Would it be possible in a large Corporation Accounting Department to Embezzle Payroll funds?
Asked by castlewalls_98
This is a hypothetical question. Lets say a large corporation with a workforce of 75,000 people working for them across the country and they have an accounting department to do payroll would it be possible for someone in Payroll to find a way to skim time from employees and find a way to pay out those funds to someone else? If a person has a time card and that time card shows X amount of hours paid for that period but feels that time is wrong and when getting a response from payroll the hours claimed by that person is only ½ of what payroll is showing how could this be possible? If that same person starts investigating more negative balances and it shows that at one time there was an entry for negative hours and payroll cannot figure it out and responds with it is just a mistake on the pay stub but it is clearly subtracted would it possibly be someone has figured a way to skim time and money from the workers? to bad this was not answered by someone in a large business setting so I will have to award the only answer that came as the best answer

Not only is it possible, that is one of the oldest fraud schemes EVER. You are not the first one to think of that as it has actually happened many times
