I recently got hired to work in a small place. currently i have a degree in fine arts but no accounting experience. the wage is AU$30 p/hour. what is the average rate for most accountants.

Accounting is boring, at least compared to arts, so why are you in accounting? For a person without work experience, AU$30 is high. But you should consider yourself lucky, most firms don't hire people without experience to work in accounting, the job is very demanding, more demanding than arts. You will need a lot of support to survive the job. If you are talking about accountants, it is hard to predict the average pay rate, because most are paid commissions only, so they are involved in sales, consulting/business advisory services and tax advisory, pay can vary from a few thousand a year to a million a year depending on how much clients you got and hours you put in.
