Which is a better career electrician or welding?

I am 20 yrs old and i am undecided between welding and electrician. The apprenticeship for electrician is 5 years and the program for welding is 2 yrs. Which is a better career?

Welding has been good to me but it has its hazards. The fumes, arc burns on skin and eyes, electric shock hazard and so on. I would guess that an electrician would have the electric shock hazard also. I chose welding because I had a knack for it (it came easy). I also have a background in machining. The machining knowledge helps for the welding so I can allow for the distortion so the machinist can do their job better/easier. This is all factory work if you weld in construction the hazards are worse. (30 years welding - certified)
