How many bullets per work experience on a resume?
Asked by mastermind delinquent
How many bullets do I use per work experience on my resume? Should I try to have the same amount per experience?

Most busy people, such as recruitment managers, supervisors, and team leads to name a few prefer the bulleted format because it lets them easily find what to look for in your resume experience section - that is, your responsibilities in your previous job, accomplishments, and the skills acquired. Even you yourself will find the bulleted form easier to the eyes and allows for a shorter scan-through time compared with a block of text (paragraph form). It does not matter how many bullets there are per work experience as long as the facts are complete. Emphasize on your responsibilities and related accomplishments, ensuring their relevance to the position you are applying for. Observe correct grammar and communicate effectively through concise sentences. Avoid wordiness that can be possibly distracting or annoying to the reader. You may also use bullets in this section for a more concise and orderly presentation.

The golden rule is DONT BULLET POINT your experience. Employers like to make up their own mind regarding the relevance of your work experience. A bullet pointed CV is nothing more than a list and employers hate lists, its almost a suggestion that they are unable to think for themselves. Look at the difference:- * worked in a car componant industry. * assempled engine componants. * Worked on a machine. * Member of a team. Or: Responsable for the safe operation of power operated machinery in the manufacture of quality motor vehicle componants. Duties included the strict observation of Health and Safety procedures and complance to company manufacturing standards, quality control, meetiung set targets, completing production reports whilst working under pressure as a member of a quality focussed team. If this was presented to you which would you choose. Employers want to know what you did and how you did it, they also want to know if you are aware of the way yor previous employer operated, your awareness of your responsibilies and the duties of the job. Have another go at your CV and make it so good that your future employer will ask you to attend an interview. Good luck
