Best Answer:
the term "law enforcement: is VERY broad. It can mean almost anything from being a filing clerk at the police station to the district attorney. There is ZERO way to tell you what you will be responsible for, if you do not indicate an actual position instead of just naming off an industry.

A:
Violating people's rights. Tasering unarmed civilians who are a threat to no one. Enforcing legislation regardless of whether or not it's immoral or unethical.

well there are a whole range of careers in law enforcement. You could be tracking down computer hackers or kicking down doors with a SWAT team. Of course there are database and intelligence experts, undercover and so on. There are careers related directly to being a "police officer" on patrol to those that are more back office and administration orientated. Probably the only real perk is that you get to be a "cop". This is what addicts most law enforcement people I know.

Dear Loving: While the term law enforcement is very broad, do you want to be a patrol officer or security guard? Your age will also be a factor, as most forces have an age limit for rookie hiring. Any job in law enforcement requires alot of training and preparation for each phase. It requires extreme patience with mankind and compassion, as you will deal with the dregs of society on a daily basis in crime fighting, and the poor victims or survivors of their acts also. If you have a short fuse, law enforcement is not for you. If you like to act tough and carry a gun or bust heads in a bar on your off hours, law enforcement is not for you and you'll get weeded out of the academy early on. To trade an automotive career of service to people who come to you because they want to, and not because they've been hauled in wearing handcuffs doesn't make sense. The perks of law enforcement are catching the bad guys. Sometimes you catch them, but technicalities allow them to go free. A downside is that you can't live near where you work, your family can become a target for people you've sent to jail, and you can't talk about your work at home. Good luck in your life's choices.
