What career? majorly stuck..loads of options?
Asked by Kay
I've just turned 22, I apply to college most years and don't end up going by September, every Jan i apply and re asses my life, for years i wanted to go to PGL, so this jan i went to Surrey to work there, now i'm back and coaching at a local outdoor activity centre. I've always coached kids (nursery assistant, gymnastics/cheerleading coach, gym instructor, personal trainer, PGL coaching) i fell into coaching but i love it, but i want a change in life before im too old to start back on min wage. since coaching i have been to college to study interior deisgn which i love however to progress i would need to go to uni, and i dont fancy working in or near london, and thats where the majority of the work is. my options are; horse riding/horse care, interior design (uni), carry on coaching, become a primary teacher (uni) hairdressing. i sometimes get fed up of working outdoors esp in winter, but i mostly love it, and hate sitting in a office that would kill me, ideally i don't want to be on aprenticeship wage but i could work at a pub in the evenings for money. also being 22 i will have to pay full wack of the college fees, i also get fed up of weaing scruffy clothes and fancy a girly job, however i find it hard to get on with women and normally prefer a male industry. in an ideal world i'll be a house developer/designer and work with building companies and do staging for show homes but i really am confused and duno which way to turn HELP PLEASEE :)

Wow you have developed career schizophrenia. 1. If you need to go back to UNI or whatever, you could apply for a student loan, which would include not just your course costs, but also any books , materials and living costs. You do not need to pay a penny back until the end of your course or at least until you have passed your exam. Then you can arrange a repayment plan with the assigned bank, at a preferential rate of interest over a time frame which is dependent upon your then earnings. Or you can apply for the loan repayment to be postponed for a further period until you have a permanent job. 1. With interior design, any middle class housewife does interior design these days. the only people who make money with that, usually have connection to rich people. e.g they themselves come from society families. Take evening classes etc and help your friends for a fee if you want too 2. horses ponies and eventing- keep that as a hobby. no money made in that. Unless you have loads lying under the bed so you can open your own stables and school etc. 3.you will be bored out of your tiny head doing a Girl job. Hairdressing --- geez noooooo I don't think that is really for you 4. How about personal trainer. Build your own business and become a personal trainer. Do evening classes - people will pay to be put through a routine to get rid of their flabby bits.PS you could wear trendy designer keep fit outfits, that look trendy, sexy and totally femme

Teaching is well paid, plenty of holidays, pension.... Opportunities re Outdoors if you specialise in PE. Other options: Outdoor pursuits instructor at a suitable centre, Go to Uni / college re interior Design. Might be worth going to an open evening / discuss with lecturers what the possible options are job / career opportunities at the end of the course.
