Is it illegal to disqualify folks from jobs requiring a valid driver's license due to eye conditions?

Due to an eye condition, I am currently unable to get a driver's license. However, many of the jobs in my area (Ohio/West Virginia) require a valid driver's license to get a job. Is this illegal, or could it be considered discrimination? For the record, several of the jobs I have looked at have required driver's licenses, but driving is not a required part of the job.

If they discriminated you solely based on your vision, then it would be illegal. However, if you really do need a drivers license and you can't drive, then it's valid. You can't fulfill the job duties.

Sure, if you need to have one for the job or is part of the job description then you would need one. If it's just to check for valid ID then I dont know...... If it's just to verify your ID you would think a State ID would be enough..

I'm sorry you have an eye condition that prevents you from getting a driver's license but why do you automatically think it's discrimination? If the job requires you to drive, of course they'll expect you to have to have a valid license.
