Asked by TINY
How do you become a UPS or Fed Ex truck driver? Not the big 18 wheeler trucks though. I was told u have to work 5yrs in the back packaging or something like that first, before you can work driving a truck delivering...is that true? Then what must i do to become a UPS or Fed Ex delivery truck man? Which is easier to get on with? THANKS!

Apply at the company

To drive big rigs, you must first go to truck driving school and get your proper commercial license before you apply as a big-rig trucker anywhere. Otherwise, apply at both UPS & FedEx. If hired, you will start as seasonal or relief sorter and/or driver to begin with. After a year or two, if there are regular positions available, the best, most reliable, most customer-complimented, & longest-serving relief/seasonal person gets taken on "permanent." Shipping is way down, and they have been laying off, but various locations will be taking on relief/seasonal people for the upcoming holidays. Get your applications in, accept what you get (if anything), and do a better-than-first-rate job for them. Remember, 30 million Americans are out of work and job-hunting so you have an immense amount of competition for any job going. You must be highly competitive!
