Applied for a job in Boots the Chemist - how long before they will reply?

My friend has just applied for a job at Boots the Chemist. She did this about 2 weeks ago. The vacancy was originally on the Job Centre Plus website and she applied online via the Boots.com "jobs" link, as they requested. She has not yet heard anything. Does this mean she was unsuccessful or do they generally take ages to respond? BTW, how much is the pay in Boots for a sales assistant and do beauty consultants get paid more (my friend has 5yrs experience as a beauty consultant)?

I heard back within about 2-3 weeks when I applied. They did a group interview so they will probably be sorting through the applications before selecting people to interview. I'm guessing it will also be for a christmas temp so I doubt they will be in a massive rush to hire people straight away. I don't work there anymore and didn't work there for long as I had another job offer, but I got about 6.25 an hour, I was 17 at the time. I'm not sure about beauty consultants sorry, she will get the oppurtunity to ask that at the interview, it's good to ask questions as it shows youre keen to know more about the job. Sorry, but it can take a frustratingly long time for companies to reply. I know this from experience. I expect a reply in a few days but it doesn't happen. You have to be patient. I am not sure what the pay rate is for a sales assistant - I applied for a job as a trainee pharmacist at £7 an hour. A beauty consultant should certainly earn more than that, especially an experienced one. Wish her good luck from me.

it really depends on the demand for the job in that area i think.. i applied on a thursday and heard back on the following wednesday i think.. i now have a job interview on monday... But i know it should not take longer than 3weeks...

In the current climate up to 3 months may be a likely period.
