Make sure to fill out your application thoroughly. Target (and most businesses these days) gets a lot of applications, so the first thing they weed out will be the ones that aren't completed properly.
If you get a call back from them, make sure you speak clearly and enthusiastically on the phone. I can't tell you how many times I've called an applicant who looked great on paper but conducted himself horribly over the phone.
If you don't get a call back in about a week, take the initiative and give them a call and respectfully ask the status of your application and if it's possible to schedule an interview. This shows you are interested, but make sure you aren't overly pushy.
Finally, when you do get that interview, be punctual, dress neatly, answer their questions honestly, and show enthusiasm for the opportunity. Good luck!
