Best steps to becoming a marketing manager?

I love working with people and I think that becoming a marketing manager would be great for me. What should I major in, the best school for the job, and how I can expose myself to the business. I'm a junior in high school.

I know from own years in sales and marketing roles that there's no perfect route. But some lessons from my experience both as a manager and employer in this field: * don't just go for a commerce degree, get arts in there as well. Arts teach people to think, that there is no immediately right answer, and that creativity, imagination and lateral thinking are the ways to succeed, innovate or problem solve. I've met too many marketers who reach for the the theory books when met wth a new market challenge, only to find nothing. * do sales training and spend your time in the sales side of a business. Marketers who do not understand their customers or what is required to service them do not, in my experience, do as well as those who know the space. * whatever industry you get into, be passionate about the product and know it inside out. And know your competitors and their products inside out. You need to live and breathe what you market to be truly successful. A product management role is often a good stepping stone to marketing from sales. All the best. Marketing is a highly transportable set of skills, and it can be a highly rewarding career.
