I got 2nd degree burns all over my right arm and hand. Is that enough to sue Dairy Queen?
Asked by Ebie B
I was changing the fryer at Dairy Queen but nobody had taught me the right way to do it. When I put the grease in the bucket it was still very hot and the bucket warped and it all spilled on me. This happened to me 2 months ago but the case is still open. Do I have a chance at winning some money?

So why did you use an equipment for the first time without letting someone supervise and teach you first?
It all depends on company policy. Are you a regular employee already? Some companies don't shoulder expenses until a worker is regularized. Is someone supposed to be tasked to monitor you in using equipment?

in my opinion, if the company will not provide any worker's compensation for the cost of the treatment of the burn, then yes, I'd talk to an attorney. if they pay for your treatment and any time you missed at work for treating the injury, then no.

Unless you're able to proof to the court that it was Dairy Queen's negligent. There could be no right or wrong way of putting the grease in the bucket but rather common sense.

If you were hurt at work you can't sue, you go through workers comp and they pay for your treatment and lost time. 2nd degree burns are not a permanent injury so you will not get any other money.
