How to apply to Verizon for line work?
Asked by Katie
My boyfriend studied to be a lineman, while he was in high school. he is trying to get a job in this field, and it had so far been unsuccessful. We heard that the Verizon branch around here is hiring, and i tried to help him apply to it, but I can't figure out how. When i go on to the Verizon careers website, it only gives you options for tech support, sales people, and the like. Does anyone know how you are supposed to apply for jobs like this?

Well, first, I can tell you that I don't know anything about Verizon. But if I were you, I'd just call and ask to talk to the Human Resources department. They should patch you through or they will give you the phone number. Also, just fyi...most companies look for experience. School is nice, but experience is king. It can be a catch 22 or a chicken before the egg thing. But tell him to keep trying. Maybe he can find a place that offers that work and will allow him to start at the bottom and work his way up.
I'm a professional recruiter.
