If I was fired from a WalMart store years ago, could I be rehired at one of their warehouses?
Asked by Curious
Was let go for what they called "violating the employee purchase policy." (I was basically made a learning example for something everyone, including managers were doing at the time.) But a local Wal-Mart warehouse is advertising positions so i wanted to know if it was worth applying since it's the same company technically.

You could try - they may still have you in their system as "not eligible for rehire", but if they purge records from time to time, you might have a chance.
The problem that you might encounter is filling out your previous job history. How will you list the earlier Walmart job? If it was more than 5 years ago, and you have had plenty of other experience since then, you might be able to fill in enough blanks to get by. If it was so recent that it will show up in your job history, you need to think of an explanation before you apply.

Sure it's worth applying, they can just say no thanks or ignore your application. There may be a question like "have you worked at Walmart before" which you must answer honestly as if they find out later you lied they will fire you again.

I was terminated from Wal-Mart also from the Optical department when Wal-Mart decided to closed all of the labs in their stores. They informed me that I was NO LONGER NEEDED since my position was eliminated. It takes three years before you can re-apply to them in a fired/dismissal situation. They will still have you on file any way and it would be up to the store manager if they even want to consider you to work there again. I decided that I am NOT going to ever apply to them.
