Is it a law for a fulltime worker to get 40hrs even if he got overtime last week?
Asked by Gima M
A friend got 20 hours overtime last week but was told to go home this week because of the over time last week. Shouldn't he get 40 hours still for this week?

No, there is no state law requiring the employer to warranty a full time employee 40 hrs. If the employee has no contract or Union Agreement there is no much he can do about it. Is it fair? Probably not, but that's how it is. EDIT By the way the concept of "40hrs per week", is just the maximum number of hrs you can be required to work without being paid overtime (as you already know); that's why most employers stick to it. But it doesn't mean they "HAVE" to give you 40 hrs.
