Is the job outlook for a dental hygienist still good in this economy?
Asked by LeeLee
I'd like to go to school to become a dental hygienist but I'm worried that once I finish school I will have a hard time finding a job since the economy is so bad. Any dental hygienists out there that have ran into this problem?

The economy is certainly frightening, but dental hygiene does and will continue to have its place - no matter what. Once you complete your training, chances are the economy will be back on the upswing. Even if it’s not, there are still plenty of openings for hygienists out there and applications being accepted. My company is opening new offices in multiple states on a regular basis even in this economy. The bottom line – we all have teeth that need to be cleaned, and it takes hygienists to clean them!

By the time you graduate the recession will only be a bad memory. You cannot base a decision that will affect the rest of your life on temporary market conditions. There is a recession every 10 year or so. And people will always need their teeth taken care of.
