I went to a technical college to learn AutoCad design in construction and engineering. The past 6 years?
Asked by sithgreg
I've been designing joist layouts for residential and commercial applications. This isn't really paying the bills so I've been trying look for something that pays better, maybe using AutoCAD for different things, but I'm not having any luck. I go to Government sites and it seems like no one is looking for anyone with AutoCAD experience. Did I pick the wrong trade?

Where are you looking? Architects and engineering firms hire many AutoCAD drafters. Try searching just 'CAD" or "computer design drafting" rather than the product name. In fact a quick search of hotjobs just came up with 211 open jobs based on keyword search AutoCAD. I got 5 hits on "CAD" search in fedjobs.gov (limited to zip code I chose). Keep looking!
