Where to go after medical sales?
Asked by Jus
Hello there, I am in desperate need of advice. I have searched the web endlessly for an answer with no luck at all. I am currently working as a medical sales representative and looking to move to another field. What career options are there after medical sales? I have an engineering degree. Please help! Cali, Wardropdavidjh and dev_jpr thank you all for the advice. Cali the link was very useful thank you once again. Wardropdavidjh I have a biomedical engineering degree so Im not too sure about selling construction products. However I do really enjoy the relationship building part of sales. I would like to move away from sales in my next role though as honestly speaking I find it too lonely. dev_jpr I have a biomedical engineering degree. The reason for moving to sales is that I was involved in research which I thought was very interesting but incredibly lonely. I am definitely a people person and enjoy interaction with customers. I sell medical devices, would that differ much from pharmaceutical/medicines sales? Thank you all once again, after some research it seems that marketing is a natural progression from sales. Is there anything else?

Well if your educated within the engineering field but like many sales people you need a new challenge. Coming from a technical background, there is plenty of opportunities for relationship building sales people, particularly within the fields of Construction Products, IT, and education based sales which is a surprisingly large field. I made my switch from the same area as yourself to Real Estate, at the time it was a great move and suited me down the ground, however given the current climate in the world perhaps not the best area! I would certainly look at construction products which are highly technical, require not your everyday sales person which but needs people that build relationships with architects, builders, contractors and such like, the same it true within IT sales also huge amounts of relationship building are required to sell software and its highly competitive.
