What does it mean when I have 34 job rejections?
Asked by Gardenfoot
I have been keeping a log of my job rejections, I have applied for 46 thus far. Some jobs I am not counting; same company, it is those multiple job listings; three opens, three different shifts, I apply for all three, get one rejection letter for all three, I count that as one.
I am pretty sure I am not going to get hired for the 12 other jobs. These jobs I applied for are well within my education, skill and experience; Administrative Assistant, Janitor and Building Maintenance. This positions I have between 10 to 15 years experience in doing. But still rejected.

You are not alone, I promise.
I deal with many, many customers who, despite being well educated and well qualified, are being rejected for jobs, many of which are below their skill and experience level.
We are simply in a very tough market where employers can pick and choose who to employ. Sometimes, people I know are not being selected for a job interview because they miss ONE of the 'desirable' criteria. Previously, the same people were winning interviews despite not meeting all the essential criteria. Times have changed.
To be better than the competition you really have to be prepared. This is sometimes the only place you can score points above others.
This is tough news I know. The website below may help you.
Good luck!

It just means you have to keep trying. Make sure you're filling out the applications carefully. Review your resume.
Also, start networking. Join Linkedin.com and contact your friends and co-workers. Volunteer and network with people you meet there.
