Asked by danielpattiz
I'm going to go to community college, so what classes should I take if I want to become a paramedic? Should i become a nurse first? If so, what classes should I take to become a nurse?

Being a nurse and paramedic are two different career paths. Although both are in the medical field they require vastly different courses. A paramedic program takes about 1 1/2 to 2 years to complete at a community college if you go full time, while a nursing program can range from 2-3 (this does not include prerequisites which take about a year). The nursing programs usually have a 1-2 year wait list also. If you have already completed prerequisites such as english composition and math, I would look into taking anatomy and physiology or medical terminology. From what I understand both courses can be applied towards either degree, but I would double check with your schools programs. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!
