Career Questions and Answers
career in the animal field?
Asked by HippieChick
I just rescued a stray kitten earlier this year and helped nurse him back to health. It was a very long year.
I am 30 years old and by adopting this cat, I have found my passion for animals. It is something I truly love. However, I want a career ( I am a paralegal right now) around animals that pays somewhat decent. Any suggestions on what I could do? I work two jobs to make ends meet and am going to be donating money to the aspca this week on pay day but I want to do more. I want my life to revolve around giving these animals a voice. But I know becoming a vet would be too many loans and school. I wouldn’t mind working for the government maybe in animal control? I am just looking to see what other options are out there it doesn’t have to pay amazing but it has to pay the bills. I have to be practical in that sense. Well thanks for any of your input on this! Thanks

I will tell you what I told my daughter- donate your time to the local animal shelter. Our local shelter you can donate just a few hours a week or more if you have the time.
You could do an online course as a vet assistant- might tell you if that is what you want to do.Much cheaper than brick and mortar school and do classes when you have time! I do not think it pays as well as a paralegal but if there is a way you can do it and it is your true passion- go for it!
