What do you need to be a hotel receptionist?

I just graduated out of high school. I don't go to collage. I've only had 1 job. At Hooters (ex. hooters girl). I wanted to know what do you need to get a job as a hotel receptionist. and how do you apply for it.

go and ask for the manager or owner and get a application there isn't much qualifications for this job

Being very personable is what every receptionist needs because you will be dealing in customer service, which you already have experience in. Go in and ask if they are accepting applications. Also, go to the employment office in your city.

Working in a hotel means that you're part of the hospitality industry; do a bit of research into the industry before applying to any positions or going on any interviews. The more knowledgeable you are about the industry going in to an interview, the better the interview will go.
All front line staff in a hotel (front line means that they have direct contact with customers/guests) must be really polished and confident (the level of polish increases as the reputation of the hotel increases). You must have excellent customer service skills and be calm under pressure (ask yourself how you would handle angry customers with finesse; the hotels don't want someone who will get flustered).

You might have to start out in a position that isn't your ideal position, if only to gain experience with the hotel brand and work your way up. That's not a bad thing to do; most places like to hire from within (promote existing employees).
