I am an Avon representative and I love it!
Should you consider selling Avon? That is something that you need to decide. Do you like Avon products? Do you know alot of people? If not do you like talking and meeting new people?
Avon is a home based direct selling business. Direct selling is a legitimate industry and a great way to own your own business and/or just earn extra money. The benefits include
* Work part-time or full-time - you choose when and how much you want to work.
* Set your own goals and determine yourself how to reach them.
* Earn in proportion to your own efforts. The level of success you can achieve is limited only by your willingness to work hard.
* Own a business of your own with very little or no capital investment.
* Receive training and support from an established company.
Here are some facts
The average customer order is $25. I find my average order is usually a little higher. However taking $25 as an average at 40% commission you earn about $10 a customer. If you sell to 20 customers you would make $200 per campaign. Now if some of those sales are in the 20% commission you would make a little less.
You get a 40% commission for your first 4 consecutive Campaigns. After that commission is based on order size.
$1550 or more 50%
$900 - $1549 45%
$425 - $899 40%
$285 - $424 35%
$145 - $284 30%
$25 - $144 20%
$00 - $24 0%
That if for Avon Brand items. The products made by other companies earn 20% fixed commission. These include watches, pocketbooks, shoes, clothing and licensed items like disney and curves. Because Avon doesn't make them, they can't offer as big a commission.
The brochure is your store and the more you buy the less they cost. The more you have the more chances you have to find new customers.
Basically you give out the brochures to your friends, family, coworkers etc. Follow up a few days before the campaign ends to see if they have an order for you. Then you deliver the order when it comes in and collect payment.
You don't want to rely only on those people. Then you need to expand your business by talking to other people you come into contact during your daily routine. People in the post office, supermarket, the local deli where you buy your coffee. Its called the power of 3. Think about it; if you talk to 3 people a day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks in a year, you will have talked to 780 people in that year! If only 10% of them become customers, you will have gained 78 customers!
If that sounds like something you'd be interested in then go for it. It only costs $10 to join locally or $20 to join online. That's a small investment to begin your own business. But its your decision to make. Good Luck!

My mom did. Like any direct sales opportunity it's what you make of it. Some will put forth a great effort and will earn a good living. Some will not put forth much effort and may never even make a sale. It's up to you.
If you are the type of person who likes to get out and make things happen and wants to be paid for what you actually do instead of what someone else thinks you're worth then yes you should consider it. There are a lot of great direct sales companies out there though, so you should look at a few before you make a decision. I can suggest some good companies for you to look at. Just email me. Since you don't allow emails from your profile you'll either need to enable them or provide me with an email adress to respond to.

Personally for me it definitely has been worth while. I was laid off a month ago and this is my only source of income. I have been able to bring home about $300 every 2 weeks is just a start since I am now full time looking to increase that income.
They key to Avon is to show EVERYONE your brochure, its your store so you have to have everyone see it so that you can make some extra income.
You can now sign yourself up online just contact me directly for sign up info or let me know if you have any other questions

I did it years ago. The trouble with it is, you have to walk for miles in all weathers, to deliver catalogues and pick up just a few orders - and this is followed by masses of paperwork - all for a few pounds. I seem to remember that you have to buy the catalogues too, so the cost of that comes out of your profit.
Being brutally honest, no-one actually likes Avon cosmetics. Most women are brand-conscious about make-up and prefer Chanel, or Max Factor, or whatever.
All this means your potential income (and more importantly profit) is fairly low, relative to the amount of time you have to put into it. I came to the conclusion I'd be better paid on an hourly basis by working in a shop part-time.

Avon is definitely worth considering. Things have changed, we no longer have to walk for miles in assigned territories or anything like that. You can sell Avon any way you want to. Some of your options are Fundraising for organizations, home parties, door-to-door, online, local shops and other businesses, flea markets, festivals etc. You can also sell Mark. Avon's brand geared to teens and college age people. I love selling Avon, it's fun and you get to meet a lot of new people. I've been getting a lot of customers through word of mouth and from my ads online. I'm not an E-Rep, but I might consider that in the future. Avon is probably the best direct sales company to work for because everyone knows about it and the prices are reasonable. I have gotten a few customers just from them seeing me carrying Avon to the car, brand recognition is huge! If you need help building your customer base after you start just keep asking questions. When you sign up try to find Avon reps that are active in the community, they will probably help you the most. When I signed up I didn't get much support from my upline or District Manager. Also, go to all your sales meetings, if you're lucky you will have a group of Avon reps that will support each other. I hope this helps you make your decision.

It all depends on you. With any of the home based businesses, you get what you put into it. If you work hard at your business, then your business will work for you.
I chose against Avon for several reasons. One is their "campaigns." I didn't want to have to buy new catalogs several times a year. It seemed like a big outpouring of money. That was just my personal preference.
I decided on Scentsy for several reasons but the biggest one was that the product is one that needs replinished. People come to ME for product rather than me having to chase them down. When they are out of wax or when they like the new scent of the month, they call me. I appreciate that about the business.
If you love the company, you'll do well with whatever you decide.
Good luck!
