I am in DMS school (ultrasound) so I tend to be a little biased, but I think ultrasound is a great choice. They are both stressful jobs, but DMS is a more specialized field, where LPN involves a broad range of duties/responsibilities. They are both flexible jobs, in that you can move to different areas of specialization based on your interests. The pay is much better for DMS, about double the pay of most LPN's. And DMS school doesn't have to be expensive. There are technical schools with accredited programs that probably cost around $3500 on average for the entire program (and that's with no help from any type of financial aid). Maybe you should job shadow both to see which appeals to you more. LPN: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos102.htm DMS: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos273.htm http://www.caahep.org/Find-An-Accredited-Program/
