Why do OR nurses think they have the right to bully us surgical techs?
Asked by OR Nurse Murderer
hello,
i have read some of the posts here regarding nurse/surgical tech relationships. i have been a tech for 8 years now and so far i have really enjoyed it.
i have been a traveler for 4 of those years and overall, it has been very rewarding but, sometimes i get to a new place, and there will be a circulator that
is condescending and rude for no reason.
i have to say, when a circulator constantly puts me in my place, i take it personal and i will go way out of my way to make that circulator's life miserable.
i will take the time to sabotage equipment and misplace meds so he/she will look like a total fool in front of the surgeon.
for instance, i took a contract just recently in wisconsin and there was a circulator who was bullying me.(trust me, there's always a circulator like that everywhere)
i decided to get downright malicious. i found out where she parked her car one day. the next morning i brought some anti-freeze and dumped all under her car. i watched
from afar and noticed she had called a tow truck. it made me feel so good to get back at her. needless to say she still bullied me every day but, i didn't care. i knew
that some mechanic probably charged her and arm and a leg to look at her car, even though there was nothing wrong with it. (it was a very nice car by the way)
circulators, if you have a big chip on your shoulder and you feel the need to bully a tech.......just remember, revenge is a dish best served cold
happy circulating
JOHN: ya know, youre absolutely right. let's focus on my problems instead of the people who use their status at my hospital to belittle me and bully me. yeah, they aren't in the wrong at all.
haha, youre funny
BETH: look at the "EDIT" post that i gave john.......then substite your name for his, and there's your answer

No matter what specialty you work in, you will always find at least one nurse who is going to test you.
Being a rent-a-tech doesn't help much, either.
There are always people around who are very insecure and think they make themselves look better or feel better by trying to make other people look bad or feel bad.
IMHO, you could profit immensely by taking some assertiveness training. You can find out about this by doing a Google search for assertiveness training.
I would advise that you stop the sabotage. Some day, it will come back to bite you you-know-where. You could get into some really serious trouble.

Yeah the car thing was a little funny and legally you didnt do anything destructive which is good. HOWEVER, if you hide instruments or things needed on the job to make the nurse look like a fool you risk killing the patient! You will be fired and possibly go to jail if someone finds out that you did something that compromised a patient's treatment in order to make someone else look foolish! You are insane. I do not want to go to any hospital that you work at.
You could kill someone with your foolishness. Stop that behavior immediately.
