Questions about Applying for a job at Wal-Mart?
Asked by David Simkus
Ok, so I've never had a "real" job before and just yesterday I decided to apply to Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. I've encountered a problem. I have no idea what any of the job positions actually do. I understand cart pusher and greeter but none of the other positions. I want to find a position where I don't need to do any actual selling like a cashier. I would love to work as someone who just keeps merchandise tidy and help other customers find what they need and so on. So what positions should I apply for. Do you have a personal experience working there? What would you recommend? Thank You. I will read all answers. PS I would also be able to receive merchandise like off a truck but I have no idea what that position is called either.

The first postion you are describing is a salesfloor associate. You'll have your own section, like domestics, hardware, toys, et cetera.
The position you apply for isn't set in stone either. They will ask you about the positions you applied for on the application, you could bring up the job in the back then as well.

I have worked for Walmart for the last 8 years. I don't know about Sam's club, but in Walmart 4till 1 I.C.S. unload the trucks and stock selves and deal with customers. Pretty much all employees deal with customers. Now they are combining job and want to get rid of people. In the meetings they are telling us if we want to keep our jobs we need to give 110 % all the time no matter what. Basically just be careful if you apply to Walmart. Example: I worked last Sunday night in a department I really didn't know to well. It was taking me a few minutes longer then normal to find where product went. I had the Co. manager welling at me that I need to work faster.
