What is it like to work at Publix and what are my chances of getting a job there?
Asked by sjake18
I recently moved from Arizona to Florida. I am eighteen years old and I have 2 1/2 years of experience in the grocery business. I am trained as a bagger, checker, and front end manager. I worked for Safeway in Arizona and liked it. Just curious what Publix is like since I need a job. Also what are my chances of getting hired.

Publix doesn't pay much at all. Grocery stores in Florida hardly pay anything. The economy is so bad in this part of Florida that they aren't even hiring right now. And that is one place that would almost always be hiring in the past. They just aren't doing any hiring right now. Nobody is really doing much hiring in Florida. Florida is not really where it is at right now. It was hit very very hard by the recession. It was hit harder than almost all other states.

it probably pays pretty bad it sounds like you have a reasonable amount of experience, which will probably work in your favour, but if they aren't hiring then i wouldn't say there is much point in applying. if places need staff right now, they advertise. the economy isnt really good enough for them to be hiring staff just because they are good, because most businesses just can't afford to do that right now
