How long into the nursing program at a university level does one pick a specialty?

For example, if you are studying nursing at school, do you pick what department you want to work in or what specialty you want to focus on while you are still in school? Or do you choose that after you finish your degree?

You decide after you graduate. You will do clinical placements in different areas of nursing while in school and this will help you decide what area you prefer.You can work in several different areas throughout your career.
