Kathryn =)
Do I need to be a good cook to become a nutritionist?
Asked by Kathryn =)
The idea of becoming a nutritionist has interested me lately, I'm a sophomore in high school. I thought it was more about knowing how to keep a balanced diet and help people with that and other special conditions... But do I need to know how to cook well? I dont enjoy cooking at all.

It is smart for you to practice your cooking. You will be dealing with knowledgeable people in your new job. They will want to know the best way to add the foods you recommend. If you work at a facility like a hospital or nursing home, it is not so important. They have a full staff of cooks. But even there, the cooks would like to know that you had taken the time to prepare some of the recipes that you give them. Then you can know which things can cause problems ( when cooking a dish for 200 people).

Being a nutritionist is more about the knowledge and helping your self and others in a balanced diet. It just means your careful in what you eat. And no you dont need to know how to cook well if you do plan to become a nutritionist.
