Asked by louis
can someone tell me what is an architectural project manager, what they do, what they get paid. Also wondering if architectural project managers go through the same schooling as architects. also what is their social status? like higher or lower then regular architects? because i wanna be an architect but don't wanna sit in an office all day , my dad told me he used to work for a construction company and was an architectural project manager, and took the same education as all the other architects. so please help me out.

An architectural project manager is someone in the architectural field who have not, could not or technically unable to pass the Architectural Registration Exam (ARE). Legally, there is no difference between a project manager and a drafter. In fact, in some States, they are not allowed to use the term "architectural" in their title because it alludes to the person being an architect when he/she is not. There are project managers with many years of experience who make six figure salaries. But in general, that title encompasses a large group of individuals in the industry. The bottom line is these individuals are not architects for whatever reasons, and because of that, their social status is lower than that of an architect even though their salary may not reflect that.
