It depends on which you are more passionate about.
My wife worked as a full time teacher's aide for many years. She found it very fulfilling and loved working with children. Also, the job was very convenient, as she worked at the same school our two daughters attended. She recently returned to college to get her degree in nursing, as she wants to work with children at the hospital, possibly in child oncology.
I worked for many years in retail, and also found it to be rewarding. The downside was working evenings and weekends. Depending on the size of the retail store, there may also be limitations for growth OR management who take themselves way too seriously. After college, I began a career in sales, followed by sales management, which I truly love.

Full Time job as Teachers Aid! Even if it pays less it will be better.
Here is why:
As a teachers aid you will have a chance to meet many educated individuals. You will be surrounded by educated people who will give you inspiration and support to continue on with your education. You will probably end up with a much better job later down the road.
As a retail assistant you will be swept up by the retail environment. If you do well, you will be promoted, you will make more money. But, if you don't further educate yourself you will not have anything to fall back on when the retail store is swept out from under you due to closure. Retail employees must work very flexible hours. If you are lucky enough to be promoted you will end up being salaried and than you will work 12-16 hour days, stuck in the retail loop. If you ever decide to have a family (if you don't already) than the retail hours will not be very accommodating. In retail, you work around retail. In the school environment you take certain days off and you are off work at a certain time.
