Are there any chef career requirements to becoming a chef?

Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to get information about learning more about becoming a chef? I want to know what to expect before I seriously commit myself to choosing this career path. Thanks!

Most school expect you to have a few years experience in a kitchen and know your way around. So finding a job in a kitchen would be the first step. You don't have to be a cook or anything, a dishwasher would work.
