Asked by JD
I had to beef up my resume becuase it was crappy. I used to work as a warehouse shipping & receiving clerk and am trying to get a new one. Do employers call last employers or references? or none ?

I call references but don't put alot of stock in it. Why would someone give me a reference who would say crummy things about them? I do call previous employers. If there is a current, I don't call it, because who knows if their current employer knows they're out there looking. I call because people pad their resumes, as you have demonstrated.

Let's see. I advertise one job and get 2000 resumes. No, I'm not going to call the references right then...I'm going to wait until I've narrowed the candidates down and did the first interview.
