How do I renew my CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) license?
Asked by alex
I have been a CNA/caregiver for almost 5 years. I've been a "care giver" (don't need a certificate for that) for the last 2 years and my job is now beginning to ask all care givers for copies of their CNA certificates and I don't know how to get my certificate renewed. nor do I have the original certificate I got from the nursing department. P.S. this is Texas (states have different laws concerning nursing)

Your job *should* be able to handle a lot of that for you. I would ask HR what to do. If they're no help, then contact your state board of nursing and ask them. You might end up having to take the classes all over again to re-certify. In my state (for what it's worth, I don't live anywhere near Texas), you have to renew every 2 years and if you let it lapse, then you must take the course again.
