What are the chances of turning a seasonal financial analyst position into a permanent job?
Asked by casey259_1985
I have been offered a seasonal financial analyst position with a shipping company, probably for the holidays. I know that some retailers offer their seasonal staff full time after their stint but what about a more specific field like finance? Has anyone had any luck in converting a seasonal gig into a full time gig outside of retail? I must say that I am qualified for the position and I will be pursing a M.B.A. in the spring. Any help would be appreciated.

I am a recruiter in the finance field...Here is my opinion. Temp to perm is growing trend. Having said that, if you were told up front that it is seasonal, it probably is. If you are really interested in making it perm, ask. Maybe not on your first day. Also, as you proceed down the career path, you will glean information about this particular company by working with the members of your team. If you are not working now, take the seasonal position. At least this way you will avoid glaring holes of unemployment in your resume. Good Luck!!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...honestly, not really. if they are looking for a temporary staff member in finance, then its probably only going to be temporary. if you are the most amazing person you've ever met and they can't bear to let you go, they might offer you a job and it will all work out sweet, but the chances are pretty slim
