What should my objective say on my resume for a job I don't plan on keeping?
Asked by da8472
I'm applying for a general maintenance position at some hotel somewhere. I figured that since I have been a failure at finding a job these last several months that I've been laid off, I'd do something that I've never done before: include a resume. I always thought it was overkill since I have little education and work experience. So what should my objective be. I'm not really interested in that particular experience (I'd rather be a security guard). And I'm pretty sure that saying "I just need income until I can find an opening in my dream career" would not help me. I'm guessing this is basically a janitorial and groundskeeping job, which is what I did at my previous job. I would think the employer would assume that I'm going to leave someday, since no one in their right mind would keep this job for 40 years, so is there an objective that I could state to play off that assumption. To sum me up: General labor is all I'm good for, but that's the last thing I'd ever want to do. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have a really good feeling about this one.

Always write what you think they want to hear, regardless if it's the way you feel. Your objective is too work hard and move up the ladder at the hotel.
