Target: I have seen too many "I hate working at Target" forums and clubs online. So you might want to steer clear of them. Kroger: Grocery jobs can pay pretty well and they always have room to grow. Plus if you make yourself a great asset you have a small chance of losing your job. The economy may be bad, but everybody has to eat. Wal-Mart: Stay away, it's a dead end job. Borders: Steady job, but it takes forever to get somewhere. I have a few friends that worked for Borders (good, hardworking individuals) and it took a long time to get recognized and promoted. Books A Million: I hear their pretty cool. Not much else. K-Mart: It can be a dead end job. But if you know how to get to the top of the food chain you can rule the place. Not many high achievers work there, so if someones in charge it's usually because they are the smartest or have the least amount of felonious activities on their record. Walgreens: Not too bad of a place. They do a decent job of picking the right kind of management to make it a bearable job (in most cases I have seen). Check out Goodwill, they have plenty of potential. You may have to deal with some interesting people depending where you work for them, but they can be good. Also check with your local state and federal government. They provide good stepping stone jobs in the entry level area and come with decent starting pay and benefits.
