Generally the reason women don't have the job is because of the physical demands of the job.
You have to be able to carry an extension ladder which can weigh up to 90 pounds. Plus, you have to be able to climb a ladder, walk on roofs, carry the installation gear and hardware, use a utility climbing belt and be proficient in the use of several types of electrical specialty tools for installation in unforgiving conditions.
Also, the weather can play a huge role in the job since most women don't care to work in the cold or rainy weather.
If none of these issues are a problem for you, apply for the job and ask the manager to let you show him that you CAN meet the physical and technical demands of the job.

I have been looking for a girl installer, it would be great. Girls can do it too, not a lot of heavy lifting, but you can't be afraid of heights.
I can't train you, but please make sure to join the SatHookup Network to get listed here: http://www.sathookup.com/satellite-network/index.php and be sure to contact me to send a pic.
