How can I obtain a copy of my medical assistant certificate if the school no longer exists?
Asked by Rose
I graduated from a medical assistant school in 1989 but misplaced my certificate. Upon graduating, I moved out of state so I never used the certificate. Once I moved back I wanted to find a career in the medical assistant field however I learned that the school changed names and location. I’ve tried to find the school in order request a copy but have been unsuccessful. Is there another way for me to obtain a copy of my certificate, if so how?

Presumably, you took the certification exam. Contact the certification agency for another copy of your certification certificate--that's all you'll need for an employer.

Usually someone takes over the records from such a merger. However, if that is not possible to track down, there unfortunately, may be nothing you can do (did you not keep a copy anywhere???). Independent certificates like this are not tracked by anyone other than the issuing school. The time lag here is also working against you, sorry.
