Should I seek an assistant management position?
Asked by drummerguy
I am currently 20 years of age and enrolled in Troy University, which is a very accreditted four year school. I am a Business Administration major accompanied by a Computer Science minor. I have 3 years of experience in customer service and sales. I am currently an agent for Liberty National life insurance. I was a member of the gifted program in elementary school and a member of the National Honors Society in High School. I am about to take a test (not soon enough to use on my resume now, unfortunately) to become a member of Mensa because I have been told by many that my intellect surpasses that of most. I am very driven to succeed and want to start my own record label someday. I also owned my own business in High School. (While on that topic, can I put that on my resume?) I say all this because I am seeking a position as an assistant manager at 10 different places on Monday. They are all looking for assistant managers, as can be seen by the openings of which were listed on Monster.com. I am going to actually go to each of these stores on Monday to show them my interest and "get my name to them" so to speak. I am doing this in the hopes that they will see how mature I am and that I actually have interest in the position, or at least more so than others of whom simply apply online and wait. Also, while on this topic, will my showing them who I am and showing them my interest increase my chances of getting the job over someone who actually has a little more experience than myself? Finally, should I even bother applying for assistant management positions without supervisory experience? I have this fear that, regardless of how well I present myself to them, I will not get the job due to lack of supervisory experience. I apologize for this immense run on paragraph, and I thank you for all your answers and would much appreciate any other miscenalleous advice.
