The story of Chesapeake Bay Seafood House began in 1974 when Norman Hardee, Bill Easby-Smith, Verne Bossie, and Jerry Bunting opened their first restaurant in Bethesda, Maryland. The goal was to create a neighborhood-style eating establishment that offered excellent "All You Can Eat" seafood and drinks at a reasonable price in a casual, fun, and attractive atmosphere.
In 1984 Chesapeake Bay acquired the franchise rights to Chili's. Chili's itself began in March of 1975 when Larry Lavine opened the first restaurant on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas. His goal was to create a neighborhood restaurant with good prices and a great atmosphere. Chili's average annual sales are $2.4 million. with signature menu items that include Fajitas, Baby Back Ribs, Salads, great Hamburgers and delicious Margaritas. We currently operate throughout the Maryland and Virginia area. In October 1996 Chesapeake Bay began another franchise concept, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina. We share the market with Brinker International, who owns the rights to On The Border. We currently operate locations in Maryland and Virginia. On The Border serves authentic Mexican food with an atmosphere to match. Chesapeake Bay, reflecting a new role as operators of many restaurant chains, has come to be known as a major player in the restaurant industry. Even as we grow larger, our Mission still centers around creating a dynamic atmosphere of well-trained, genuine people serving quality products in a fun environment. Good people and good food!
