Acquired by Harte-Hanks in 1928, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times has grown to become one of the largest newspapers in the state. On Oct 15, 1997, the paper, long owned by Harte-Hanks Communications, was acquired by The E. W. Scripps Company. With a strong tourism, petrochemical and military industry, and a growing higher education system, the newspaper continues to be a mainstay in South Texas with a circulation of over 71,000 (Sunday) and 51,000 (daily).
