The Times Record News was founded in 1907 and purchased by Harte-Hanks in 1976. It is the only newspaper published in Wichita Falls and is the leading newspaper in 17 counties in North Central Texas and southern Oklahoma. The newspaper was a 1999 recipient of the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics given by the Better Business Bureau of North Texas. The Times Record News and its staff have received numerous editorial awards, including Katy Awards from the Dallas Press Club for a series on race relations in Wichita Falls, and from Texas Association of Managing Editors and the Associated Press-Oklahoma News Editors association for such skills as spot news, general news reporting, column writing, photography, editorials, team effort and design. The Times Record News web site also won a Katy Award in 1999 for best online news content in a web site.
