Heritage Newspapers, Inc. is an award winning publishing group that consists of 10-suburban publications (8 weekly, 1 twice-weekly and 1 tri-weekly publication) in southeastern Michigan with a circulation of over 316,850. Subscribe today! Some publications date as far back as the 1800's (The Manchester Enterprise 1867, The Dexter Leader 1869, The Chelsea Standard 1872, and The Milan News-Leader 1881). The News-Herald was first established in Wyandotte in 1879. Colorful Downriver journalist William Mellus first established The Mellus Newspapers in Lincoln Park during the Depression era. Under The News-Herald name, the two newspapers merged in the mid-1980's, then adding a Sunday edition in 1990 and Friday publication (weekend entertainment news) in 2006. Today The News-Herald is the "Voice of Downriver." Heritage Newspapers covers southeastern Michigan from Dearborn to Ohio and from Grosse Ile to Chelsea with the highest market penetration of any newspaper, in this area.
