CORE
VALUES
SAFETY: If we can not keep our children and families safe, we can not be effective helpers. Safety always comes first.
PERMANENCY: Children grow and thrive best in families. Therefore, a sustained and concentrated focus on permanency planning (permanent homes for all our children) is essential. All our services must be family friendly, family centered and, whenever possible, family driven.
EDUCATION: Education is a primary force for individual and collective progress and achievement in American society. We must strive to provide our children with a multitude of opportunities to maximize their academic and vocational potential.
LITERACY: Children read to learn. Literacy, therefore, is the key to educational success. As caregivers, counselors, therapists, teachers and supporters, we must direct our focus laser-like on literacy standards by highlighting the issues, advocating for literacy services, providing them directly when possible and continually assessing our children's reading progress.
SELF-SUFFICIENCY: To be true to our mission we must never foster unnecessary dependency. All our programs must build on the competencies and skills of our children and families to promote self sufficiency.
STRENGTH-BASED SERVICES: All children and families have strengths. By identifying and building on these strengths, the capacity to confront actual weaknesses and deficits is strengthened. Graham Windham is committed to strength-based services, utilizing a child's and family's existing competencies and abilities to shape and implement their individual and family service plans. |
