What do you want to do for a living? Program computers? Fly Airplanes?

Whatever your dream job is, there is a corresponding career for you in the Army National Guard.

When you join the Guard, you choose a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) from more than 200 exciting options. After Basic Training, you will go into Advanced Individual Training, where you receive specialized instruction followed by on-the-job training. Along with being fascinating and fun, this course acts as a training ground, preparing you for dozens of exciting, lucrative careers in the private sector.

It’s a tough world out there. But Guard members have advantages. We place you ahead of the pack. Employers are looking for experience and leadership, and when they see the National Guard on your résumé, they know you’ve got it.

Be Part of a Unique Mission

The Army National Guard (ARNG) is one component of the U.S. Army (which consists of the Active Army, the Army National Guard, and the Army Reserve). The Army National Guard is composed primarily of traditional Guard Soldiers – civilians who serve their Nation, State, and community on a part-time basis (usually one weekend each month and two weeks during the summer.) Each State, Territory, and the District of Columbia has its own National Guard, as provided for by the Constitution of the United States .

The National Guard has a unique dual mission that consists of both Federal and State roles. For State missions, the governor, through the State Adjutant General, commands Guard forces. The governor can call the National Guard into action during local or statewide emergencies, such as storms, fires, earthquakes, or civil disturbances.

In addition, the President of the United States can activate the National Guard for participation in Federal missions. When federalized, Guard units are commanded by the Combatant Commander of the theater in which they are operating.

It’s Within Reach

Planning on college? Looking into trade school? Need your GED? Wherever you are in your goal for a higher education, the Army National Guard can help pave the way.

If college is on your agenda, we offer financial aid programs that cover all tuition and expenses. We have SAT and ACT prep and testing – and much more. If you need your GED, get it through our GED Plus Program. Vocational school, distance learning, and alternative credit programs are all part of our system, too. We even have programs to educate your spouse.

Take advantage of the Guard’s generous educational programs to improve your job prospects.

A Tradition of Service

The Guard is about service. Service to your community when it needs you, service to your State when disaster strikes, and service to your Nation in times of conflict.

Guard members have been a part of the fabric of this Nation, in wartime and in peacetime, since 1636. Join the Guard today and you’ll be joining one of the Nation’s most enduring institutions.

Be proud. Stand tall. Join the Guard.
