Harbor Health Services, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation, governed by a Board of Directors elected by the community corporation on an annual basis. The Agency includes: The Neponset Health Center, founded in 1970, The Geiger Gibson Community Health Center, founded in 1965, The Mary Ellen McCormack Health Center, founded in 1975, The Columbia Point Infant and Toddlers Day Care, founded in 1967, The Harbor WIC Program, founded in 1985 and the Elder Service Program, a capitated program for frail elders, opened in 1996.
The Agency is the result of tireless efforts by local residents who were committed to providing neighborhood-based health care for their families and themselves. Geiger Gibson Community Health Center, formerly Columbia Point Health Center, was the nation's first community health center, opening in 1965. The history of the Agency and its Centers is one of which the community, the Board and the staff feel justifiably proud. The success is directly attributable to a personalized, respectful approach to the delivery of health care that is at the heart of the Agency's philosophy and mission.
