 ITW Buildex originally began as a business unit of ITW Shakeproof (automotive fastener manufacturer) in Elgin , IL .  As the unit grew and demand for fastening products in the commercial construction industry increased, ITW made Buildex a separate division in 1967.  One of Buildex's first triumphs was the development of the first hex head self-drilling fastener for attaching metal sheeting to roofs and sidewalls on commercial buildings.  Our commitment to research and development has taken the company through over four decades of continuous growth by meeting the industry’s ever-changing needs.  As a result, ITW Buildex continues to develop significant product lines and systems that are recognized as both innovative and an industry leader.    

Currently, Buildex employs over 100 people with manufacturing facilities in Itasca, IL and Roselle, IL and has a Service Center in Elgin, IL.
