DCCCD strives to be the best community college district in the nation and often is regarded among members of the community college network as consistently among the top five districts in the country.
DCCCD has seven collegesBrookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield,El Centro, Mountain View,North Lake , and Richland, the Dallas TeleCollege and the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development DCCCD receives funding from local taxes, state appropriations and student tuition. Governed by an elected Board of Trustees who represent individual districts, DCCCD is the largest undergraduate institution of higher education in the state of Texas. It also serves as a workforce development partner for local businesses by providing basic skills and technical training they need. Enrollment topped 63,000 credit students in fall 2002 – a record for the district. Last year, more than 151,000 credit and non-credit students took a class at DCCCD colleges; the district educates approximately 9 percent of the total adult population in Dallas County. Access and affordability are key, and diversity is welcomed and encouraged.
