A little about our roots.
In 1984, Ancestry Publishing (now Ancestry.com Inc.) began as the leading publisher of trusted family history books helping genealogists grow their family trees with innovative advice, time-tested techniques and reliable resources. Today Ancestry.com Inc. is a company of more than 600 people working to help everyone discover, preserve and share their family history.
What exactly do we do?
We've spent millions of dollars and billions of hours tracking down the world's most valuable historical records and making them easily accessible online. We do this by negotiating with governments to acquire, scan and index records that we then store, along with our members' precious data, in highly secured server facilities.
We’ve continuously developed valuable new tools and continued growing Ancestry.com both domestically and internationally.
What can we do for you?
Ancestry.com can tell you when and where ancestors were born, whom they married, how they earned a living and so much more. We could link you to records featuring family members you never knew — and the tools you need to build a family tree, upload photos and stories and share them with loved ones online.
